We met in June 2022 on Hinge, and that’s where everything began. At the time, Afia was living in New Jersey and working in New York, while Kwasi was in Massachusetts, working remotely. Before that, he had lived in New York City, but the pandemic brought him back home to Worcester, MA. Our very first phone call lasted for hours—so long that both our phones died. As soon as we charged them, we jumped right back on the phone and talked for even longer. That night, we discovered something special: we were both from the same tribe and region in Ghana—the Akan tribe from the Bono Ahafo Region. After weeks of great conversations and FaceTime dates, we both knew we had to meet in person to see if what we were feeling was real. Our first date was on June 18, 2022. Kwasi flew into New York City from a business trip in Toronto, and we spent the weekend together. From dinners, brunches, and comedy clubs to speakeasies, ping pong, and even VR gaming—we explored so much of the city! We laughed, talked about God, family, work, and life, and quickly realized we were aligned in so many ways—even in our dreams for the future. After months of long distance, we took a leap of faith and moved to New Jersey to finally be in the same place. From that moment on, our forever truly began. From the start, we’ve always felt that our journey was led by God. It wasn’t just luck—it was His perfect timing that brought us together, and we feel so blessed. Now, almost four years later, we’re still writing our story. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you on our special day.
