With love

(Written by Ku'ulei) We're high school classmates but never knew one another in school. Marvin claims that I was in the 'nerd' class and he was in the 'kolohe' class. A mutual friend had encouraged me to 'friend' Marvin on Facebook as she thought we had a lot in common and more importantly, because we both loved Jesus. I hesitated for awhile and eventually sent Marvin a friend request. Marvin accepted my friend request and in getting past his countless selfies, I could tell that he loved Jesus, had a passion for surfing, and a quirky sense of humor, just like me. So, we remained friends and went on with our lives. There was not a lot of communication from Marvin but he did share with me that during his 'observation' phase, he read every post I shared about my love for Jesus, my love for momma, how much I liked football, funnies, reading, etc. We eventually started chatting via Facebook Messenger and finally, exchanged phone numbers. We met in person while I was volunteering at Night of Shooting Stars for Basketball Maui and he was working in Wailea for Wailea Patrol, a security company. We had our first day date at the Maui Ocean Center and Cafe O'Lei. We've been having day dates, date nights and great conversations ever since, all while honoring our Lord and each other.
