Some love stories start with fate. Ours started with a random friend request and a message left on read. Months before we ever officially met, John added me on Facebook and sent me a message. I, unimpressed (or maybe just distracted), never responded. Most people would have taken the hint and moved on — but luckily for us, the universe had other plans. A few months later, we matched on Bumble. This time, I finally gave John a chance, and it didn’t take long for me to realize something special was happening. What started as a dating app conversation quickly turned into daily deep dives, sarcasm and laughter, adventures with Tuck, weekends at the lake, and a relationship built on love, honesty, friendship, and persistence (on John’s part). Looking back, it’s funny to think that our story almost never happened because of one ignored message. Sometimes the best things in life come back around when the timing is finally right. Our story started with Michaela ignoring my Facebook message, but thankfully, she eventually gave me a chance.
