Our journey began in Denver, where we discovered a love that would change our lives forever. Although we were familiar with each other through a mutual friend, it wasn’t until Kurt’s graduation dinner that we met in person. Ashlynn was there to celebrate her childhood best friend, who happened to be Kurt’s roommate. Just a few months later, Ashlynn made the bold decision to move to Colorado for esthetician school, and that’s when everything clicked. We started hanging out as friends, but it was clear we both felt a deeper connection that was unspoken. Our friendship blossomed on a memorable trip to Hawaii with friends, where I could sense Kurt’s feelings growing. A few months later, during a short getaway to Breckenridge, Ashlynn playfully encouraged Kurt to ask her on a date, and he happily obliged. Our bond grew even stronger during a weekend trip to Oklahoma with our mutual friend. One evening, we took a peaceful walk by a lake, lying in the middle of the road to stargaze and share deep conversations. It was on the way back from that walk that we decided to make things official—October 2023 marked the beginning of our romantic journey, and since then, we’ve hardly left each other’s side. In June 2023, we decided to move to Oklahoma together, giving Kurt the chance to meet Ashlynn's family and strengthen those important relationships. The Proposal: Our engagement weekend in Tulsa, OK, was filled with excitement and anticipation. Kurt could hardly contain himself as we visited the Philbrook Museum, anxiously waiting for the photographer to set the scene for his proposal. As we made our way down the steps, Ashlynn spotted someone taking pictures from afar but didn’t realize it was all for us. With nerves fluttering, Kurt finally got down on one knee, and before he could utter many words, Ashlynn joyfully said yes! The celebration that followed was unforgettable as we couldn’t wait to share the news with our family. We chose to tie the knot in Colorado because it’s where our story began. Buena Vista holds a special place in our hearts as it’s the first location where Kurt met Ashlynn’s family during a family vacation. Given Kurt's love for fly fishing, we selected the Surf Hotel, perfectly situated on the Arkansas River. Together, we enjoy exploring new food spots, traveling to new destinations, cooking meals, golfing, fishing, and unwinding on the couch with our favorite shows at the end of the day. We love going to the gym and taking long walks with our dog, Banks. Initially Kurt’s dog, Banks quickly became Ashlynn's beloved companion, and she has embraced her role as his new “momma.” Our adventure has been filled with love, laughter, and joy. We thank God every day for bringing us together in such a unique way. We are truly grateful for our partnership, rooted in faith, and are excited to see what each day brings.
