We met through mutual friends. The first day we spent together we chased salmon all around Southeast Wisconsin. We didn't catch a single fish, but we were hooked.
We went on a camping trip one weekend to get out of the house. They say Virginia is for lovers. We stayed in a lodge down a dead end gravel road near the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The next day we planed to hike and hopefully see a waterfall or two. We spent half the morning walking (downhill) to see this tiny trickle come down a cliff side, all blocked by overgrown trees. After that we had an hour long walk up the hill; Kurt's pocket had almost burnt a hole through from rubbing the ring and making sure it was still inside. We came to another hike where we pulled in the trail-head parking lot and almost turned around because of exhaustion. Luckily their was a light breeze and slightly overcast sky. We decided to take the short 1.4 mile hike in and check out the viewpoint. Jessica kept insisting she had to carry the heavy backpack with all the waters and snacks. The first part of the hike was up a rock scramble that reminded us both that we were nowhere near MT Katahdin. Kurt lead the way, and when Jessica was stepping off of a boulder he got down on one knee and asked can you hold this too? Her response.... Yeah why not (I'm holding everything else).. She looked down at the sparkle, but Kurt choked and hid the ring and got off his knee too quick for her to understand what just took place. After a couple of hugs and kisses and some shaking on the mountaintop she said YES...
