If you were to ask us how we felt on New Year’s Day 2022, just minutes after Sarah and I started talking outside of Town Brewing, we’d probably tell you one of the following: “It was a deep exhale, a calm breath of fresh air.” “It was like we finally found each other again.” “It's like we’d known each other all along, we knew each other before we met, and we didn’t even know each other yet” Ok… maybe that third one is stolen from the Hadestown soundtrack, but it gets the point across. Our meeting, and thereby our story, began in large part thanks to the help of others. First, a shoutout to Hinge, the little app with the tagline “meant to be deleted,” which we both had nearly deleted individually after some questionable match luck. Thankfully, my sister Nicole noticed Sarah’s profile while I was home for Christmas. “She looks cute, likes sports, and has a cute dog,” she said. When we matched, we quickly got down to business. I noticed her profile heavily featured the Denver Broncos, so I did what any good Florida Gator fan would do: I asked her if she thought Tim Tebow – our main celebrity shoutout – had a fair chance in Denver and the NFL. To my surprise, Sarah sent back what felt like a dissertation about his play style, matching offensive schemes, and teams where he could have succeeded. She also revealed that her family, despite having been in Charlotte for about 20 years, were huge Gator fans. I knew instantly that I had found my match. After using pictures of Archie (thanks, little guy) as an excuse to move off the app, we both never had a reason to go back. Since that first date, we have both known that each stroke of luck, each coincidence, was just a steppingstone leading us to find each other. Since that day, we have filled our story together with sporting events, trips, Broadway shows, concerts, and countless other activities that we couldn’t imagine sharing with anyone else but each other. More importantly, we began to build our crazy little family with our 3 & 4 legged friends, Archie, Neil, and Hampton. Needless to say, we are forever grateful to people like Tebow, who made all of this possible… …and of course, all of you… Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing to celebrate with us on our special day, and for showering us with love and support as we say “I do” in October.
