In true Millennial fashion, we met on Bumble in September 2017. A week before matching on the dating app, I had an epiphany that the way I was pressuring myself to find a boyfriend/husband was too severe. So, I decided to stop taking dating so seriously and simply have more fun. Simultaneously, Jeremy was going through the difficult breakup of a long and serious relationship that brought him to the same conclusion: just have fun. When we first matched on Bumble, neither of us thought of the other as a potential long-term partner. Jeremy recalls “you were the pretty blonde girl which never really go for the dudes with tattoos and piercings, so I just swiped right because I thought you were gorgeous and didn’t think anything would come of it.” For me, it was a smidge different. I chuckled at the "guy-lights" in his hair (which turned out to be faded teal hair dye), but ultimately swiped right based on his nerdy vibe and the content of his profile, which simply read: “just looking for someone to share some cheese fries with.” After a night of texting, Jeremy rang me up in the morning to chat (if you know him, you know this isn’t uncommon. The boy LOVES to talk on the phone). As a professional phone-call-dodger, my initial instinct was to decline and text him that I was busy being somewhere much cooler than my bed scrolling on Instagram. But for some reason, I decided to answer his call. We went on to talk about anything and everything for 8 uninterrupted hours. Sometimes the universe throws you a situation you think is unwanted, but ultimately realize is exactly what you need. On July 13, 2019, Jeremy proposed at the Wyche Pavilion in Greenville, South Carolina, the site of one of our very first dates, almost 2 years later. We’re so excited to get married this September in the city we call home surrounded by all our closest family and friends. We hope you can attend and celebrate with us!
