How We Met

The bride's perspective

My freshman year college roommate had mentioned going out with some guys from her hometown. One of them still went to McDaniel (Spencer) and his best friend (Scott) was coming to visit for the weekend. I hadn't done much of anything fun, so I figured why not. Before leaving, in true Megan form, I decided to do some stalking on the people we were meeting up with. The only images I could find of Scott were an unflattering snowboarding photo and an old senior talent show photo that showed Scott dancing in a dress (some Delmar tradition that I still don't quite understand). I honestly thought this night was going to be pretty weird but there was free booze so I went along. My roommate, a floormate, and myself arrive at Spencer's and shortly after someone suggested we all film a Harlem Shake video. Scott chose to wear a pumpkin mask for this, as if my previous stalking didn't already show how weird he is. After the video, we went over to "bridge house" for a party where Scott and I actually got a chance to talk. We danced together the rest of the night and eventually exchanged numbers. I ended up hanging out with him every day for the rest of that weekend. He even pretended to enjoy the Oscars pre-show with me and he may have lied to Laurel Pizzeria about why he would not be going into work. From that weekend forward, we talked every day and Scott continued to come up to McDaniel to visit until we made it official on Spring Fling weekend. I never would've thought this weirdo with a pumpkin head would become my forever spring fling. It's his "weirdness" that makes me smile everyday and there is no one else I would rather spend the rest of my life with.

The Proposal

The groom's perspective

My fiancee is a little delusional. She has this misconception that she can cook better than I can. So for my proposal I decided to cook a nice meal, not only is it romantic but I can prove who is the better chef. Also I wanted her to be able to relax as I prepared the meal, which meant preparing that for her as well. So of course, as I tackle everything in life the day of, I went on the hunt for my supplies. Bed Bath and Beyond for candles that I can put all around the bath tub and sinks, Victoria secret for a robe (Megan loves lounging in robes), and Food Lion for the meal. My meal plan was to make home made mash potatoes, salad, and filet mignon with chocolate covered strawberries as the dessert. Most of that was not too difficult to get and everything was going smoothly until it came time to find the filet. I looked everywhere, I thought I was out of luck. I got lucky in the end and my uncle Michael had a life long friend, Trapper, who works at Outback Steakhouse and they were able to supply me with filets. So I get home about an hour before she is set to arrive home from work. I set up the bathroom over 20 candles all over the bathroom. I also got bath salts to put into the bath. I had the robe in a bag wrapped up as a present, I was ready. She comes in and asks what the occasion is as she walks by seeing me cooking. I try to casually reply “Nothing at all. Why don't you go take a bath while I finish dinner?” (already having the ring in my back pocket). As she goes through and walks into the bathroom and sees everything she stops and goes to take a picture unbeknownst to her I am behind about to propose. I get down on one knee and she turns around and I asked her to marry me. I couldn't have been happier in that moment. She cried, I absolutely did not tear up a little bit.... and I knew we would spend our lives together
