Zach and Megan first met at Colorado State University in the anatomy lab in 2017. Megan was the lab coordinator and was busily preparing for medical school while Zach was taking the anatomy course for his own love of human anatomy. Megan remembers Zach doing well on exams and asking challenging and thoughtful questions. Zach remembers Megan as “the cute TA” although Megan was not a TA. They went their separate ways when the course ended, and Megan was accepted to medical school at the University of Colorado. Their paths crossed again when just before Zach started medical school at the University of Colorado, when he joined a volunteer group teaching neuroscience principle to high school students. Megan was the lead and organizer for this group and they both recognized each other right away. Throughout the Fall of 2018, Zach and Megan’s paths would continue to cross often, whether that was in the library, outside of lecture halls, or at other campus events. By the winter, Megan gave her number to Zach to provide study resources for Zach’s first round of board exams. The two set up a date to have tea and talked for hours about anything and everything. After this, both worked to position themselves in areas where they could run into each other more often and they finally went on their first official date to Zach’s favorite Thai place which low and behold was closed. They pivoted to a nearby Pho place and talked until the place was near closing. It was from here that dates become more regular, but the conversations never waned. Zach and Megan found themselves discussing every facet of life and truly coming to understand one another. In early 2019 Megan moved to Colorado Springs for 1 year of medical training while Zach stayed in Denver for his own training. They took turns making the trips up and down I-25 to keep one another close in their lives as they both could tell the other one was important. During the pandemic, Megan was due to move back to Denver and the two decided to work towards moving in together. They lived together in a shared apartment through the trials of applying and matching into residency with Megan always leading the way 1 year ahead of Zach. In 2023, Zach and Megan went on a ski trip to Banff and Lake Louise Canada. It was on the frozen lake of Lake Louise where Zach asked Megan to be his wife and lifelong adventure buddy. Megan said Yes and there remained only the big question of Megan’s fellowship year before they could move forward with their lives together. In 2024, Megan moved to Columbus, Ohio to complete her Pediatric Sports Medicine Fellowship with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Zach had to stay behind in Denver to complete his Family Medicine Residency with Saint Joseph’s Hospital. With this year apart, more than ever the two have invested in travel to see one another, with many long phone conversations as they both still believe the other is important. They are excited to be re-united just before the wedding ceremony with the hopes that they will not need to be long-distance again. Megan and Zach both share a deep love of travel and exploring new places. So far, they together they have explored Colorado, Washington, Ohio, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Peru, and Iceland. They plan to explore Europe for their honeymoon and many more places in the future. They both love nature and can spend endless hours enjoying mountain scenery or soaking up a sunset. Additionally, they both love their families and friends deeply and are grateful for all those joining for the wedding celebration.
