No - Sofia and Edward will be married in a private ceremony in early June. This event is an open-house style picnic held in place of a formal reception, and we’re excited to celebrate with our family and friends!
Dibrova Lake has served as a gathering place for Michigan’s Ukrainian community for more than five generations. Sofia has spent many summers there with her family, and Edward has been warmly welcomed into that tradition. Our celebration will be held in the park’s covered pavilion and adjoining bar area. The entrance to the park off of Maltby Road will be marked, and signs will guide you toward parking and the picnic location. Restrooms are available in the pavilion, as well as in a second building near the playground, a short walk away. Both will be clearly marked. Guests are free to enjoy all park amenities, which include a small beach (weather permitting, feel free to bring a bathing suit!) as well as a playground, soccer field, and bonfire pit.
We have reserved a small block of rooms that are available at a discounted rate at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Brighton South - US 23 by IHG nearby in Brighton. Please see the "Travel" page for more information & to book a room. We have also added some additional hotel options in the area.
Dress code is casual. Late July in Michigan can be hot and humid, so we recommend dressing comfortably. The pavilion, bar, and restrooms have concrete flooring, while the surrounding park includes grass, gravel, dirt, and sand, so plan footwear accordingly.
Children are welcome, and guests are free to enjoy all park amenities, which include a small beach, as well as a playground, soccer field, and bonfire pit. There will also be kid-friendly food options available. Please note: All children must be supervised by an adult at all times. There is no lifeguard on duty at the beach or lake areas.
