Boulder Canyon Hike in Superstition Mtns, led by Professor Mike

9:30 am - 2:00 pm

Check weather conditions. Dress in layers. Light hiking boots or trail runners recommended for rocky trail. Hat, sunblock, sunglasses, 2 liters of water, snacks or sandwiches.

Out-and-back hike with short and medium options & great views of Canyon Lake, Boulder Canyon, & Weaver's Needle. Trailhead access via scenic, curvy paved road. Cars OK. Meet at Kuby's, 109 E Loma Vista Dr., Tempe for 9:30am departure, or meet at trailhead (Google Maps for Canyon Lake Marina) at 10:30. The marina is on the left just after crossing 2nd one-lane bridge. Park near entrance. See photos, maps, & directions at https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=13. We will only do the first part of this trail: you can go as long or short as desired. The first section is 0.75 mile one-way and gains 275 feet up to a spectacular viewpoint (20-30 minutes). Turn around here or continue up another 400 ft to 1.3 mile mark atop Frog Peak. Option 3 then heads down to a beautiful stand of saguaros at 1.8 miles.
