Brad and Katie first met in the annex of FBI Jackson prior to driving up to Tupelo for an operation. Katie was aimlessly wandering around the annex, as she was brand new to the office, and Brad was tinkering with the ERT truck when he noticed her. He showed her where to go and that was the end. A nice coworker later informed Brad (incorrectly) that Katie was married with kids. Luckily, that story was set straight halfway through the drive. As the days progressed, they each made it a point to pass each other’s desks and sit near each other in meetings. Eventually, Brad brought donuts to Katie’s teen academy one morning and she was hooked. About a week later, he brought in flowers and asked her to be his girlfriend.
2.5 years later, 3 floofy pups, a new truck, a new job, and everything in between led up to this. Katie spent 2 weeks in Florida for the holidays but was anxiously awaiting to return home as Brad had requested she be back by the 29th - but gave no reason why. She got back even earlier than requested as she was too excited. Brad told her to pack a bag and gave very vague details… which resulted in a very large suitcase and enough outfits for a month. On the drive, Katie was unaware of where the final destination was until they arrived in front of the hotel. In her favorite town. Nashville, Tennessee. They made their way up to a luxurious room and Brad hurried Katie along to get ready for their “4 or 5pm reservations”. She finally got ready and off they walked. They made it to the bridge and walked towards the stadium where Brad told Katie they were going to a “sports ball game”. They made their way down multiple flights of stairs and began to walk along a grass path near the Cumberland river with Broadway in the background. Brad threw away Katie’s water bottle which resulted in an a bit of an argument as Brad tried to guide her into the grass and closer to the river. Once Katie realized what was happening, she began to cry and was hiding around a nearby tree. She eventually turned around and noticed Brad on one knee and a surprise photographer capturing the entire special moment. A true dream come true.
