Guests seeking to get a workout (or walk!) in are highly encouraged to explore the "Lady Bird Lake" trail, a 10 mile dirt trail that loops around Lady Bird Lake, meandering through the heart of downtown. If you want to be a true Austinite, do a full or mini loop and hop into Barton Springs after (or join our guided run on Friday).
An Austin classic! Weather allowing, we highly encourage guests to check-out Barton Springs during your visit. Advance purchase of tickets is highly recommended but not necessary (there are kiosks at the entrance). Ride-share highly encouraged to either the south or north entrance.
One of our favorite things to do year-round is stroll the Barton Creek Greenbelt. There are multiple entrances, however, the Zilker park entrance will be the closest to the JW Marriott for most guests.
Butler Pitch & Putt is a 9-hole, par 3 pitch & putt with real grass greens that is unique, fun and easy to play for all ages & skill levels. Located in the heart of downtown Austin, Butler Pitch & Putt is one of our favorite spots to visit! Note that Pitch & Putt is a first-come, first-play course with no tee times or reservations offered. There is typically an hour long wait on weekends, however, they have drinks and snacks available to eat while you wait.
One of our favorite spots to visit on quiet weekend days, the Austin Nature & Science Center is a FREE wildlife and nature sanctuary where you can see meet and learn about a wide variety of Texas wildlife. Go and say hello to two of our favorite residents, Moxi the bobcat, and Green Bean the small rough green snake.
If you're looking for some authentic Honky Tonk we recommend visiting the famous Broken Spoke! Open Friday and Saturday night for live music and two-step dancing, it's one of our most frequented spots in Austin (we lived next to it for 4 years!).
One of the best things to do in Austin is eat (and drink)! There are too many recommendations to name, guests are encouraged to check out the link provided to get an overview.
