While Kelly was in the midst of earning her PhD and Nick was starting a new career with the Springfield Fire Dept, somehow both of them thought to start looking for a serious relationship in the middle of their hectic lives. Who woulda thought that it would actually work out for these crazy kids? The "love at first site" trope is worn out, but it’s oh so true in their case. After the first date, things kinda just fell in place. Their love for good food, IPAs, and all things Disney only fortified their relationship. After many a football game, 5k, and brewery trip, it came time for Kelly’s introduction to Nick's mini-me, his then 5 year old son Colton. The 3ft 6in tall, brown haired, blue eyed, freckled boy instantly made his home in Kelly's heart. Colton and his KelKel have bonded over their love for running, reading, and most importantly, snacks! When he knew the timing was right, and with the help of his Best Man, Nick proposed on June 30, 2021. Since then, the K-Squared fam has welcomed a Velociraptor named Arlo into their home. The three-best friends have become the fantastic four and Kelly is beyond grateful for her happy life with all of her rescues. With countless miles run together, and a couple Disney trips with the Fam in the books where Nick fell in love with Kelly’s sassy nieces, they are ready to celebrate and say "I do".
