Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We are requesting guests wear Cocktail Attire or Indian wedding wear. For Indian wear, you can rent or buy an outfit! Please see our suggested links below for where you can rent or buy Indian wear. For women, a "lehenga," "saree," or "indo-western" outfit are the words to look for! For men, a patterned shirt, tie, or pocket square can add a touch of Indian flair to a suit. Feel free to text Kiran with any questions! 206-418-8562 Check out our Pinterest board for "Indo-Western" wedding inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/kiran_ramsey/indo-western-cocktail-attire/ Here are websites we suggest for Indian attire and accessories: https://byrotation.com/us/collections/ethnic-wedding https://morcollections.com/ https://www.lashkaraa.com/ https://www.thesareeroom.com/ https://www.perniaspopupshop.com/trends/guest-edit

Question

What is Henna or Mehndi Night?

Answer

A mehndi night is a pre-wedding celebration in South Asian cultures where henna is applied to the bride's hands and feet (and guests, as well!). The event is a time for family and friends to come together, celebrate, and bond. Mehndi is an ancient form of body art. The mehndi mixture is made from the leaves of the henna plant. Both women and men on both the bride and groom's side gather to participate before the wedding. Henna has long been used to cool the body's temperature, so it's said to calm the bride's nerves. Tradition says the deeper the color of the bride's mehndi, the happier the couple's marriage will be.
