About 4 1/2 years ago, we met at the gym (I'm sure no one would have guessed that, lol). We were both getting ready to compete in our bodybuilding competitions when I asked him when his show was... the conversation that started it all. Naturally, as the weeks went on, we shared conversation and encouraging fist pumps like gym bros, which eventually led Justin to suggest getting food together after our shows. With several run-ins between, he upgraded "grabbing food" to "food date". DATE? You should've seen my face, haha, although he did not mean a formal date. A couple of months later, he became the guy from the gym who I made casual New Year's Eve plans with. From there, we began talking every day. With zero intentions of turning this into a relationship, we even "pumped the brakes" a few times, but we stood no chance. Que all the freak-out thoughts.. This doesn't make sense; This wasn't supposed to happen; This isn't going to work out. We cared for one another first as strangers, then as friends, until we were faced with the fact that it was more than just casual. We took the time to learn what our relationship meant to us. Since then, our love has grown into the most beautiful, unexpected gift that we will cherish forever.
