Once upon a time, dance was the love of my life. When I was a junior in college I was an exec member of my dance team. I later auditioned this spunky little Filipino girl, Kay, who ended up making my team and would later on become my sister in-law. Who knew?! After graduation I wanted to keep dancing and that same Filipino girl told me I should try out for her team back at home. A few short months later auditions had begun. I hopped on the NJ transit and headed there. I got off the bus and walked in to the studio. There were three directors and guess who was one of them? Although we had no idea at the time, Krystle would become the new love of my life. They turned the music on and I didn’t realize that 5, 6, 7, 8 would be the countdown to the rest of my life...
As a child Christmas for my family was the main holiday of the year. For my future extended family it was Christmas Eve. They threw an annual party and would open up gifts after the guests went home around midnight. This particular Christmas Eve, after the guests left, we gathered in the family room as usual and started opening our presents from each other. When all the gifts were opened I announced that I had one more for Krystle. I held the ring box behind my back with my heart nearly pounding out of my chest. I said I am going to ask you a series of questions and want you to answer with the first response that comes to mind. Q: Better color, Blue or Red? A: Red Q: Snickers or Twix? A: Twix Q: Will you marry me? A: *crying* *long pause* *mom screaming you have to answer* *long pause* Yes!
