Krystina and Marco’s story started way back in 2012 at Archbishop McCarthy High School. Krystina was a freshman; Marco was a sophomore. Their paths crossed a lot, mostly because Krystina’s entire friend group went to school with Marco since basically kindergarten. Small world, right? Being the outgoing types they are, Krystina and Marco would often run into each other in the hallways, exchanging the classic “besito en el cachete,” a quick hello Miami-style. After school, they’d bump into each other again in the training room: Krystina was a student athletic trainer for the football team, while Marco was off running endless miles for cross country. In 2014, Marco graduated and headed off to Alabama. Krystina finished up a year later, eventually landing in Washington, D.C. by 2018. Life moved on, or so they thought. Fast forward to March 2021: Marco sees a very Miami-style St. Patrick’s Day photo on Instagram. Forget Guinness, there was cafecito, tequila, Lucky Charms, and Tajín. Somewhere between the tequila and the cereal, Marco realizes two things: 1. Krystina is back in Miami. 2. Krystina is no longer platinum blonde. Naturally, he asks her to grab a drink. Krystina, now living back in Miami thanks to Covid, remembers Marco’s stellar personality (and the fact that he’s basically a Nick Jonas doppelgänger). With full confidence (and a little help from future bridesmaid Natalie Castaner) she assumes Marco is trying to date her. Obviously, she says yes to drinks. Then, on April 1, 2021, Krystina cancels. On their would-have-been first date. Yes, on April Fool’s Day. No, Marco was not laughing. Friends Natalie and Holly Tripp were ready to stage an intervention. Luckily, Marco is nothing if not persistent, dropping hints and holding onto hope. Finally, on September 24, 2021, Krystina agreed to grab that long-overdue drink. And yes, Krystina was right: Marco was trying to date her. Now, a few years, lots of laughs, and many cafecitos later, you're invited to celebrate it all coming full circle, dressed to the nines (it is black tie, after all), with Krystina and Marco!
