I highly recommend going through Airbnb for all lodging options! You can find anything from private villas for the entire family or studios just for yourself. Look under the "travel" tab for additional lodging options.

What is the currency in Mexico?

The currency is pesos. I highly suggest to request pesos through your bank to get the best USD to peso ratio.
