We’re getting married!

It was a hot summer evening. My friend Alisha had texted me and asked me to come out for tacos and drinks at our local sports bar. I originally told her no. I was tired and just wanted to relax at home. But she insisted! So I caved. I showed up with my hair pulled back, barely any makeup on, a white t-shirt and blue stretchy pants, yes I said BLUE! Haha. I sat with Alisha at the bar and just as I sat down I looked up and there he was! Sitting across the bar with a group of his buddies. He smiled at me and waved. I had known Mike for years but hadn’t seen him in a very long time. He then got up and walked over to me. He gave me the biggest hug that instantly brought butterflies to my stomach! We chatted for a few minutes and then he went back to enjoying his friends and I did the same. But i kept catching myself looking at him and him at me. Before he left that night he walked back to me and said, “well im leaving and I just wanted to say bye and maybe get your number?”, I happened to have my phone out so I said, “how about I get yours?”. Now thinking back, it totally sounded like I was blowing him off. But he gave me his number, hugged me and gave me a kiss on my cheek and left. Y’all I melted! Like legit went limp and almost slid out my seat! Haha. I looked over at Alisha just stunned! I hadn’t felt this way about someone in such a long time! He was perfect! Alisha then began to encourage me to text him but I was to scared. But she did not let up and eventually I again caved and finally sent that first text and now the rest is history! Months after we started dating, Mike and I were talking about that night and he said to me,“You know I’m really glad you asked for my number that night because if you would of given me yours, I probably would of never texted and then I wouldn’t have met the love of my life”, and all I could think was....God knew what he was doing. He brought me the best man in the entire world and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

It was Christmas Eve 2017. I had gotten off work that morning and was extremely sick with the flu. I slept most the day and woke ‪around 6pm‬ and we picked up our kiddos from their other parents. We have a tradition that on Christmas Eve we get hot chocolate and we drive around and see who can find the best Christmas lights. I was not feeling up to it but I dragged my butt into doing it because we can’t break tradition! We all had our pjs on. I had a Christmas onesie on, ugly Christmas slippers and a beanie with no makeup ( I looked like a bum!!!) haha! After we finished the lights I really wanted to go home and rest but Mike begged for me to just last a little longer so we could drive up the mountain (by the college) that over looks are little town so the kids could see all the different colors from a distance, at least that’s what he told me we were going up there for. We got up there and it was Beautiful! Mike looked over at me and said “let’s get out and take a family picture”, this threw me off because he neverrrr wants to take pictures! But I agreed and we unloaded and I put my phone up on the truck and we snapped a picture . The kids were enjoying the view and I said, “okay let’s go, mommies not feeling well” and headed towards the truck. That’s when Mike grabbed my hand and said, “wait hold up”. I turned around just as he got down on one knee and of course I started bawling and the first words I said were, “are you sure you wanna marry me?” and he said, “now how could I resist a beautiful woman in a onesie and ugly Christmas slippers?” haha and here we are today! It was absolutely the most perfect proposal to me and I’ll forever cherish that terrible picture we took right before he made me the happiest woman alive!
