We met the modern way, on Bumble, where Melina made the first move with a simple message about Paul’s love for the outdoors (his hiking photos did not go unnoticed). What started as a casual first date at Resident Culture Brewing Company quickly turned into an unexpected Plaza Midwood bar crawl, and by the end of the night, we were already looking forward to the next time we’d see each other… which was the next day. From the very beginning, everything felt easy. Paul’s steady, easygoing nature balances Melina’s quirky and fun energy, creating a love that is both exciting and deeply comforting. What started with nights out exploring Charlotte has grown into a life filled with camping trips, working on house projects (fighting beavers), hosting backyard parties, and building a home full of laughter and love. Along the way, we have traveled to incredible places together, including a trip to Patagonia where Paul was surprised to learn Melina is willing to sleep on the ground for five days straight, a ski trip to Switzerland where Melina was surprised to learn that Paul could keep up with her skiing family, and several trips to the karaoke bar, where we learned that neither of us has any shame. Of course, our story wouldn’t be complete without our two dogs, Sami and Finn. Sami, Melina’s sweet (and kind of crazy) pit mix, quickly decided Paul was her person too. And Finn, who we adopted together, keeps life exciting and loud… as he runs through the front window to greet Paul. On March 21, 2025, during a camping trip along the James River, Paul asked Melina to spend forever with him. Even though she had a feeling it might be coming, the moment was still a complete surprise, private and meaningful, and made even more special with our dogs by our side and her sister and now brother-in-law waiting nearby with champagne to celebrate. What started as a simple beginning has grown into a life built together, full of adventure, laughter, and a love that keeps getting better with time. We feel so lucky to have found each other, and can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you. 🩵🥂
