Our Love Story

Josh and Megan first met in 2021 at MooTime Creamery on Coronado Island in San Diego during an ice cream outing with the Kruthoff family, Megan’s brother Jacob, and his college friends. Even though no words were exchanged, looks of attraction were definitely there! Fast forward to 2023, Josh was visiting Northern California for a few weddings of his and Jacob’s friends. Without hesitation, he asked Megan to dance during the couple’s dance at a wedding—surrounded by her close friends and family. The rest of the week was full of flirting, Josh asking Mr. Kruthoff and Jacob if he could take Megan on a date, and all the classic “do they like me?” moments. That week ended with another wedding, where they danced the night away and may or may not have exchanged a first kiss ;) Life for Josh and Megan moved forward as Josh went back to Southern California to finish his master’s in psychology, and Megan moved to Texas to dance with a missional arts organization, Open Sky Arts Collective. A year went by, and in 2024 Josh moved up north to Loomis to live with Jacob and be near friends. Josh and Megan reconnected soon thereafter and it wasn't long until the two were texting constantly, sending voice memos back and forth, and calling each other every minute they could. Soon they found themselves navigating long-distance dating with many flights between Texas and California. They both knew that this could be the relationship that lasts forever and were actively pursuing ways to be near one another. By spring, serious conversations led to Megan moving back to California to date in person. In August, she made the move, and although leaving her community in Texas was difficult, living next to Josh was opening doors for another dream to come true. The next few months included many date nights, hikes, trips to leatherbys, the binging of Ted Lasso and Stranger things, and spending as much time together as they possibly could. In November, on a picnic in Napa, Josh proposed. From late night Leatherby's runs in California to two-stepping in Texas, long-distance calls, and countless shared memories, Megan and Josh have built a relationship rooted in friendship, fun, and growing in their love for the Lord,—and now joyfully look forward to experiencing God's love through the profound mystery of marriage.
