Dear Family and Friends, With just under two months left until our wedding day, we wanted to provide you all with an update on our plans for October. As we have said before, we are getting married pandemic or not, so whether it is at our venue or in our living room, #TheAudCouple is happening! We wish we could have you all there to celebrate with us, but the Alberta guidelines are currently holding steady with the 100-person indoor ceremony and 50-person indoor reception restrictions for weddings. As such, we have decided that the most reasonable course of action is to restrict our guest list to our family only. Our current plan is to host our ceremony and reception at the venue as planned, but with social-distancing measures implemented throughout. We are going to be reaching out to our families to better understand their comfort level and intentions regarding attending our wedding and adjust our plans accordingly wherever possible. We understand that kids going back to school may ultimately have an impact on our plans closer to the date and we will remain as flexible as possible in case restrictions tighten again. We do not currently foresee expanding our guest list beyond family, but we will certainly let you know if these plans change. We will keep you all updated as the date continues to approach regarding our plans for things like video streaming our wedding ceremony, etc. as needed. Thank you for your continued understanding, patience, love, and support as we navigate this crazy year and so many unknowns coming into the fall. As always, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to us and we will do our very best to answer them. Stay safe and healthy! With Love, Krista and Josh
We met in Greece of all places, while on a study abroad trip to the beautiful island of Crete! It turns out we were both in civil engineering, but were/are pretty quiet and kept to ourselves and had no idea the other person was in our department. Thankfully, studying/travelling/living in such close proximity to such a small group of people definitely helps build friendships. Bonding over ice cream, football, and Arizona State University definitely helps too!
We spent pretty much all day everyday together during third year and missed our friendship when Josh went up north for his internship. Something was different post-European adventure before fourth year, but it would take another 10 months and a lot of pestering from friends and classmates before we did anything about it. Josh got his iron ring and a girlfriend all in one weekend and the rest they say is history.
Finally, after almost two years of long-distance dating, Josh was moving back to Calgary so Krista flew out to Ottawa to be his road trip buddy. Josh wanted to spend one last day in Ottawa before he moved back so we went to the Nordik Spa, then for dinner at the Metcalfe Hotel, which is somewhere Josh took Krista on one of her visits because of the gorgeous bookshelf/library in the lobby. Josh had made a joke years ago that he was writing a book; it turns out he was. A book of our whole relationship, complete with comics and rhyming and a proposal at the end! He nailed it!
