Nick had been asking me all week long if I wanted to go to the pumpkin patch at Pine Tree on Sunday. He knows how much I love going to pumpkin patches in the fall, especially since the year before we had literally arrived just minutes after closing. Although I thought it very sweet that he was so interested in going to the pumpkin patch, I also found it a bit odd, as Nick is very much a homebody on Sundays… So, Sunday finally came around and we made our way to the pumpkin patch and lo and behold…it was closed! I suggested we go home and try our luck next year, but Nick surprisingly didn’t want to go home…odd. So, we decided to drive down the road and check out a brand-new vineyard. If you know Nick, you know he’s very much a “cocktail” guy, so the fact that he was so agreeable to go to a vineyard for a wine tasting was again, very unusual to me. So, we get to the vineyard, walk in, and were greeted by a nice gentleman who politely told us the vineyard was…you guessed it, not yet open! Geesh! Although I wasn’t too disappointed, as we ended up getting a quick private tour of the new space! I was having a blast, but Nick still seemed very anxious! Well, after striking out twice, we thought maybe third time’s a charm and headed over to St. Croix Vineyards in Stillwater. Finally, a place that was open! We started off by doing a little wine tasting, explored the apple barn and all its deliciousness, and planned to end our adventure with a walk through the apple orchard. We walked down to the end of a lane and were completely alone. I had spotted some apples on the ground that someone had arranged into a heart shape and pointed this out to Nick, thinking how sweet it was. Suddenly, he turned around and next thing I knew he was showing me the most beautiful ring, asking me to marry him. Then I blacked out from pure joy. Of course, I do remember saying yes!!! P.S. We did find a pumpkin patch! ~Future Mrs. Frucci
