How We Met

10-31-2024 - A Halloween We Will Never Forget

It was a crisp Halloween evening around 6 PM, and both Brent and Allie had just finished up a long workday. Brent was planning to settle in for the night with his dog Vex and a brand-new video game he and his friends had been anxiously awaiting for months. Meanwhile, Allie had dreams of cozying up on the couch with her pup Willow, a bowl of popcorn, and a scary movie marathon. But their dogs had other plans. By some perfect coincidence, they both ended up at the Sandy Dog Park, hoping to let their pups burn off some energy before heading home. What happened next was… not exactly subtle. Vex became immediately smitten with Willow and—like dogs do—made his intentions awkwardly clear, causing Allie and Brent to meet for the very first time. As their dogs ran and wrestled (and Vex got repeatedly corrected), Allie and Brent found themselves walking slow laps around the park, chatting and laughing while the sun set behind them. Before they knew it, the park had grown quiet and dark. All thoughts of video games and horror movies were long forgotten. Brent walked Allie to her car, and just before saying goodbye, he worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. Allie didn’t hesitate for a second—she said yes. Since that night, they have spent most of their minutes, hours, and days together—learning from each other, laughing constantly, and falling deeper in love than they ever expected from what started as a very dog-forward first encounter. Now, they are so excited to continue this journey—this time, side by side forever.

The Proposal

7-22-25 - A Night in the Middle of Everything

On the third night of an eight-day cruise through the Caribbean, Brent and Allie found themselves dressed to the nines for Formal Night—celebrating not only the occasion, but also their very first real vacation together. After a fancy dinner, an incredible ice skating show, and a little dancing in the ship’s dance hall with friends, the evening seemed to be winding down perfectly. Or so Allie thought. The group made their way to Deck 8, known as Central Park—an open-air garden tucked into the heart of the ship, complete with cobblestone paths, lush greenery, and soft string lights. A jazz band was performing that night, the same one Brent and Allie had heard on their first night aboard. The music, the singer’s voice, the ambiance—it had enchanted them from the very beginning. With the night cooling off and the music slowing down, Brent and Allie, along with their couple friends, began to slow dance on the cobblestone floor under the stars. Then, the first notes of La Vie En Rose floated through the air. Allie recognized it instantly—it was one of her favorite songs, especially the French version. That’s when Brent turned to her and asked for a dance—just the two of them. As they swayed together, Brent leaned in close and began to speak words meant only for Allie: about who he had become since meeting her, how he had spent so many years learning in solitude, and how she had brought light, joy, and peace into his life in ways he never imagined. And then, in the middle of the park, in the middle of the ship, in the middle of the Caribbean Sea—he got down on one knee. With tears in her eyes and her mouth dropped open in complete surprise, Allie listened as Brent asked her to marry him, holding out a ring in a small box that sparkled as brightly as her eyes. And without a second of hesitation, she said yes—to her best friend, her favorite dance partner, and the only man she could ever imagine spending forever with. Cheers and applause broke out from the crowd in the park, phone cameras flashed, and their friends embraced them in a flurry of celebration. That night—set to jazz, love, and ocean breeze—was forever marked as the greatest night of their lives.
