Our love story began in 2018, when we stumbled into each other the old-fashioned way…on a dating app! One day in December of that year, Alex received a comment on one of her Hinge photos: “TWINSIES!” The photo was taken of her standing in front of Eureka Harbor, when she was on a trip visiting her sister in Northern California. Her initial reaction to the comment was confusion, “Who is this crazy bearded guy with a man-bun and why does he think we could pass as twins?” Then she looked at his profile and noticed that he had a similar picture, standing in front of the same background! Josh lived in Eureka and his photo was taken right before he left Eureka to move to San Diego. After a few messages, they made plans to grab drinks one Sunday afternoon. What’s the best way to celebrate your first big trip after the pandemic? Get engaged in Greece! Josh didn’t really have a plan. He wanted to wait for a good moment and pop the question when it felt right. After a long flight with the ring hidden under the snacks, an amazing first day seeing the sights, and sitting on a gorgeous rooftop bar with a view of the Acropolis Josh just couldn’t wait any longer. This was the moment! Josh made an excuse to run down to the room to get the big surprise. He brought back a decoy box so he could have some fun with the proposal and the real ring, safely in his pocket. But as he sat down he dropped a box and Alex heard it hit the floor. Josh picked up the box, slid it across the table, and Alex opened the biggest, most beautiful Ring Pop she had ever seen! Luckily for Josh, there was a real ring waiting in the wings and Alex was gracious enough to say yes! We spent the next 9 days roaming across the Greek islands and waiting to come home to celebrate with our friends and family.
