We met on a cute little dating app called OKCupid. In hindsight, it was amazing that we never met before 2016. We lived down the block from each other for multiple years, bowled at the same bowling alley, and had even faced each other's schools in multiple tournaments for our bowling teams. At this point, fate was screaming at us to just meet already!
Given that we both bowled on our high school teams, It only made sense that the first time we met would be at the bowling alley. Nick picked me up, we had a super fun time bowling and afterward, we hung out at my house. I was told this first meeting was strictly a "friend-date".
Once I met Kiana in person as friends, that was when I knew we couldn't just be friends. So I decided our first date should be the classic movie and shared popcorn at the theatre to go see Arrival. Which was a solid 9/10. Hawkeye being in it is worth 5 points.
Only 7 months into our relationship. We decided to take a giant risk. We planned a stress test, in the form of a trip to Disney World. This was the first trip that either of us had ever planned alone as adults! We had an amazing time and it really let us grow as a pair and a couple! It was a good sign of things to come.
We decided to be non-traditional and instead of making it a surprise, we proposed to each other with gifts. Kiana gave me a gold watch and I gave Kiana a gold ring! Then to celebrate we went on a day trip. First to Cape May Zoo, then the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary, Cape May Antique Center, and finally topped it all off with dinner at Benihana. Our favorite part of the day was meeting a lovely camel named Walter.
