Our story

We met in elementary school in 2nd grade when Krizamae moved to the U.S. from the Philippines—though looking back, God was already working behind the scenes on a story we had no idea was coming. We grew up side by side—same classes, same tiny school—but totally different friend groups and interests. With a graduating class of just 63 in 2008, we definitely knew of each other… we just didn’t know each other. After graduation, life took us in different directions. Krizamae built a beautiful life of her own, becoming a mom to her awesome son, Rygar. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore as much as she could—hiking everywhere from Mount Whitney to Machu Picchu, always going just a little out of the way to find waterfalls- her favorite- often pausing to take in the breathtaking landscapes God created, finding her way to a place to see the sunrise or sunset (preferably from a mountain peak), and with the people she loves most. Matt, on the other hand, was busy working hard and building his future—literally. He started and grew Granite Creek Landscaping, creating incredible outdoor spaces… and yes, building waterfalls.😍 Every now and then, we’d run into each other—quick hellos here and there—but nothing ever really came of it. Until 2019. At a Friendsgiving, somewhere between the food and the chaos, Matt had a quiet but very confident thought: “She’s the one… that’s the girl I’m going to marry.” And then… … absolutely nothing happened. 😄 Because sometimes, even when you’re ready, God says, “not yet.” Turns out, His timing is a lot better than ours. Fast forward a few years, and Matt finally worked up the courage to reach out to ask Krizamae to hang out. She said yes… and just like that, everything started falling into place. Since then, life has been full of adventures, lots of laughs, and a growing faith we share. Matt’s been teaching Krizamae how he builds waterfalls (and how to use the Bobcat!), while Rygar is happily learning how to use power tools and bonding with Matt over their shared love of plants and rocks… …which now means Krizamae has to check pockets before doing laundry, every time. 😄 She chases waterfalls. He builds them. And now, together, they’re passing that love on to Rygar. Through it all, God gave us exactly what we needed, exactly when we needed it—and brought us together in a way we never imagined. With God’s perfect timing, everything fell right into place. 💙
