Things To Do

We are so excited to share our favorite places in Charleston with you! Our idea is since there are so many people coming from out of town, you all could turn our wedding into an excuse for a mini vacation. If you need more recommendations then whats listed, just ask! Here's a general weather forecast: The weather in Charleston in October is ideal for visiting this historic city in South Carolina as temperatures remain warm but with less of the humidity than during the summer months. Early in the month the afternoon temperatures are mostly in the low 80s with early morning lows in the lower 60s
Folly Beach

Folly Beach

East Arctic Ave, Folly Beach, SC

There are plenty of beaches to explore in Charleston, we prefer Folly beach because of the laid back vibe. We recommend eating at Jack of Cups for lunch or dinner and Black Magic for breakfast.

Charleston Farmers Market

Charleston Farmers Market

329 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 724-7305

The biggest farmers market in Charleston, only open on Saturday mornings. Fresh fruits and veggies, local crafters, and live music. Fun place to get breakfast or lunch. Open 8am-3pm.

Waterfront Park

Waterfront Park

1 Vendue Range, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 724-7321

A nice walk along the Charleston Harbor including a pier that is great for spotting dolphins. The Griffin is a nearby dive bar that was in the running for 'best bar of the south' this past year. The surrounding streets are cobblestone and the buildings are very historic.

Historic Horse Drawn Carriage Tour

Historic Horse Drawn Carriage Tour

8 Guignard St, Charleston, SC 29401

For the history buff, horse carriage rides are led by very knowledgeable guides that explain the interesting history and architecture of Downtown Charleston

King Street

King Street

King Street, Charleston, SC

Nice shopping south of Calhoun and fun nightlife north of Calhoun Street, plus a great variety of restaurants.

Firefly Distillery and Deep Water Vineyard

Firefly Distillery and Deep Water Vineyard

6775 Bears Bluff Road, Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487
, (843) 557-1405

You can do vodka tastings in a fun atmosphere at Firefly Distillery on Wadmalaw Island, and right next door is Deep Water Vineyard for those who prefer a glass of vino. Be sure to check out Angel Oak on the way.

Angel Oak Tree

Angel Oak Tree

3688 Angel Oak Road, Johns Island, SC 29455
, (843) 559-3496

If you're headed out to Firefly Distillery or the vineyard for a tasting be sure to stop by Angel Oak on your way. This incredible tree is estimated to be between 500 and 1500 years old.

Grill 225

Grill 225

225 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 266-4222

Located right beside the Charleston Market (different from the farmers market), this restaurant is located on the first floor of a historic hotel. We would suggest getting a fancy martini at the bar (they use liquid nitrogen to chill and create a smokey effect) and then head up to the rooftop for great views of the Ravenel Bridge and Market Street. Best time: Sunset

South Carolina Aquarium

South Carolina Aquarium

100 Aquarium Wharf, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 577-3474

Great aquarium for kids and adults alike

Sullivan's Island

Sullivan's Island

Sullivan's Island, SC

This is the beach we go to most often because of the proximity to our house and the cute walkable restaurant strip ideal for a nice dinner or bar hopping. We recommend Pier 22 for a seafood dinner or quick lunch just a few blocks from the beach.

Minero

Minero

153 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 789-2241

This casual mexican eatery is one of Doug's favorite restaurants downtown. The seasonal street tacos change weekly and are always interesting. Order a tecate ashtray style or a pour of mezcal de pechuga (the only place in charleston you can get it)

Disc Golf

1156 E Montague Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405

There is a fun & free disc golf course in the middle of park circle, right down the street from where the reception will be held. Shoot us a text if you need to borrow some discs!

Fancy Dinner Downtown

Charleston, SC

There are a lot of really nice restaurants in Charleston. If you would like an incredible steak dinner we would suggest Halls Chophouse. For the more adventurous eater we would suggest the tasting menu at McCrady's. And finally for some classic southern food we would recommend Husk. Reservations should be made about a month in advance for all these restaurants.

Medium Fancy Dinner

Charleston, SC

A couple of Kristyn's favorite restaurants are Xaio Bao Biscuit, an asian fusion restaurant that doesn't take reservations. Also Kwei Fei, a very spicy Chinese restaurant on James Island, just across the bridge from downtown.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

3550 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414
, (843) 571-1266

There are a lot of plantations to explore, this is one of our favorites.

For all the days along the way
