There are plenty of beaches to explore in Charleston, we prefer Folly beach because of the laid back vibe. We recommend eating at Jack of Cups for lunch or dinner and Black Magic for breakfast.
A nice walk along the Charleston Harbor including a pier that is great for spotting dolphins. The Griffin is a nearby dive bar that was in the running for 'best bar of the south' this past year. The surrounding streets are cobblestone and the buildings are very historic.
You can do vodka tastings in a fun atmosphere at Firefly Distillery on Wadmalaw Island, and right next door is Deep Water Vineyard for those who prefer a glass of vino. Be sure to check out Angel Oak on the way.
Located right beside the Charleston Market (different from the farmers market), this restaurant is located on the first floor of a historic hotel. We would suggest getting a fancy martini at the bar (they use liquid nitrogen to chill and create a smokey effect) and then head up to the rooftop for great views of the Ravenel Bridge and Market Street. Best time: Sunset
This casual mexican eatery is one of Doug's favorite restaurants downtown. The seasonal street tacos change weekly and are always interesting. Order a tecate ashtray style or a pour of mezcal de pechuga (the only place in charleston you can get it)
There is a fun & free disc golf course in the middle of park circle, right down the street from where the reception will be held. Shoot us a text if you need to borrow some discs!
There are a lot of really nice restaurants in Charleston. If you would like an incredible steak dinner we would suggest Halls Chophouse. For the more adventurous eater we would suggest the tasting menu at McCrady's. And finally for some classic southern food we would recommend Husk. Reservations should be made about a month in advance for all these restaurants.
A couple of Kristyn's favorite restaurants are Xaio Bao Biscuit, an asian fusion restaurant that doesn't take reservations. Also Kwei Fei, a very spicy Chinese restaurant on James Island, just across the bridge from downtown.
