How We Met

Mutual Friends for the Win!

We met in 2018 at a mutual friend's parent's house for a Bill's playoff game. We've had the same group of mutual group of friends for several years at this point and somehow this was the first time we had crossed paths. Confession: A few of my friends told me he would be there and that I should come over and meet him (they also persuaded me by promising me pizza and bloody marys). They had been trying to get us in the same place for over a year, but I didn't like the idea of being set up. After a couple months, we went on our first date at the Griffin where I soon found out that his friends had never mentioned me to him and he had no idea who I was! The setup was a one way street, and I am so very thankful everything played out the way it did. Shoutout to the Zarbo/Brocheys for playing with Cupid's arrow!

First Date

03. 07. 18

Our first date was at The Griffin Pub. For some reason, I was not nervous at all even though it was practically a blind date. We both ordered the chicken and waffles (which is now our signature meal!). The connection was almost immediate. Once we started talking, we couldn't stop! Little did we know that would be both of our last first dates. We have been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal

10 . 31 . 20

We planned a trip for my Dirty Thirty in the Poconos for a weekend getaway with our best friends Jess & Bill and their son. It was a weekend of relaxation and being in nature - just the way I like it! On my birthday we went on a hike to a nature preserve called Bush Kill Falls—which contains at least a dozen of natural waterfalls to hike through. Little did I know, every waterfall we walked by he was thinking about proposing. Each waterfall kept getting smaller as we walked through the park (he later tells me he kept kicking himself for chickening out each time!). We eventually got to a waterfall called Bridesmaids Falls. It was very private and only 6 people could walk up to the viewing platform at a time. We walked up together and took some pictures. He put his arm around me and told me he had a small present for me. I did NOT think he would propose on my birthday whatsoever. But in that moment, I knew IMMEDIATELY what was about to happen. Wide eyed, shaking, I stuffed my mask in my pocket as fast as I could because I was not going to be proposed to with a mask on! Most of it was a blur afterwards. He got down on one knee and gave a long-winded Nate, heart felt, perfect speech that encompassed everything he felt for me and for us. It was perfect and the easiest YES of my life. He nailed it!
