August COVID 19 Update

Making Difficult Decisions in a Difficult Time

To our friends and loved ones, Given the current rise in COVID-19 cases, we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel our reception. We had hoped to have the chance to celebrate the start of our new lives with you, in person, hugging and dancing, but unfortunately that is not an option right now. We are still planning on getting married on 9/4/2020, it will just be a small ceremony with our family and close friends. Our love for each other is not something we want to put on hold. We have hired a videographer to capture the ceremony so you will still get to watch and experience our joy with us. We remain hopeful that maybe this time next year we may be in a better situation to have a large one year anniversary celebration, but we are taking this planning with the reserve and patience of having already planned two other weddings. We hope you will be able to understand and support our decision. Stay safe, spread love not germs.

June COVID 19 Update

Love isn't the only infectious thing in the air right now...

Dear Family and Friends, While these past few months have held much uncertainty, we have greatly appreciated your love and support while we have been navigating a large celebration in the midst of this virus. This past week some states have begun to reopen their businesses and announced reopening plans. The state of Ohio put out a Phase 1 plan that details how wedding receptions will be limited to the 10-person guidelines through the month of May. While this situation is ever changing, we do not think this restriction will change much over the following month. Hayden and I have reached the decision with our families to postpone the wedding to Friday September 4th, 2020. We hope by September the United States will be in a better position for people to safely travel and celebrate. We are updating our Zola website and will be changing the RSVP instructions to accommodate this date change. We understand that your circumstance may have changed with this update, so we have deleted all past RSVPs up to this point. We are asking that all our guests return onto our website to re-RSVP. We are still watching the situation carefully to make the best choices for our loved ones and our future together. So, additionally we are working with our vendors to create a backup date for next year, probably around Labor Day 2021, in case it does not seem safe to travel this year. We will be in contact with you regarding the status of the wedding celebration and how it changes over time. We are excited to have celebrate this new chapter of life with everyone who has contributed so much to get us where we are. Whether this party is in September 2020 or 2021, it will not diminish the love and excitement we have for celebrating our life together. Stay safe and healthy. Love, Kristy and Hayden

Our Journey to Happily Ever After

It all starts with chemistry...

We first met at a Tulane undergraduate scholarship party while standing in line for a somewhat awkward buffet dinner. I think Hayden started talking to me because I immediately filled up two paper plates with food and a third for deserts. I don't know what we talked about, all I remember is that the next day I sat next to him in Chemistry 101 and thought it was the dorkiest thing that he had labeled all of his journals. Jokes on me, now I own my own labeler. We started out as friends, then study partners to help each other survive engineering. But somewhere in the late nights hunched over text books and the early mornings with coffee that was never strong enough, we became something more. I knew I liked Hayden when I started to look forward to studying Honors Physics and we had our first date in Audubon Park - having a picnic and eating eclair cake on the golf course while watching the sun set. Now it has been more than 4 years together. We've had great times and we've had trying times. Hayden has seen me dressed up for Lion King on Broadway and then he's seen me crying hysterically over Up (its a sad movie ok?). Through it all we have found strength in each other and somehow my weird jokes never scared him off. On June 23rd Hayden proposed in Galveston (we both are at UTMB School of Medicine now!) at Kemper Park, while we were having yet another picnic with homemade eclair cake. I said yes and now here we are. We would love to have you join us this June in Cleveland as we begin our Happily Ever After! Love, Kristy and Hayden Please see our wedding pages to review the plan for the big day and RSVP. The hotel accommodations are blocked off at a fixed rate through August 6th, 2020 and the deadline to RSVP is August 4th, 2020.
