Tiny tux and dress, nervous grins, and petals trailing behind us, we had no idea then what kind of story we were starting. After that day, we stayed in each other’s lives, not always close but never far. School years came and went, and though life pulled us in different directions, we always somehow circled back - an occasional message, a run-in at a family event, a smile from across a room that still felt familiar.

One weekend changed everything. He was home on leave from the military, different haircut, more grown-up in some ways, but still had that same spark in his eyes. We reconnected at a get-together, the kind where you expect nothing more than laughs and catching up. But this time, something was different. We talked more than usual, lingered a little longer in each other's presence. By the end of the night, we traded Snapchats—just a small exchange, but it felt significant.
