Kris and Janean met online, much to Janean's chagrin. She had resisted online dating for years. After much pestering by friends, she decided to try it. Turned out it was worth it! Kris messaged her in February and patiently waited for the reply that she sent him in March. She was taken with his ability to ask the questions that mattered-what her students were up to, and how she might want to be supported in growing more fully into herself. He was taken by her independence and desire to support others, including, all of a sudden, him. By the second phone call things seemed almost too good to be true. Suddenly the first date was going to be a week sooner. The halfway spot being an hour away seemed less than ideal, but worth it. One date quickly turned into two, and by then the phone calls were nightly, the growth towards one another was more and more intentional, and suddenly, this seemed like a sure thing. A trip to a friend's wedding in North Carolina, that April, made this relationship seem doable in the long-term, and while it had only been 2 months of knowing each other, it seemed like this was how life was meant to be. Once Janean was able to meet Rowan in August that relationship was able to start growing. Bedtime video calls became the norm, with meetups sprinkled in when possible. Once the two of them had a good, established relationship, and Kris was sure Rowan would be ready for this, he was able to talk to Janean's parents, and then propose and... here we are! September 13th, here we come! We're ready to be a family!
