Brian came to take me to my forever home in 2019; It was love at first sight. We became the best of friends, running at the park, sleeping on the little couch while I learned how to use the doggie door, and of course, snacking on treats! I truly thought that life couldn’t get better. Brain worked from home so I got his undivided attention. I had all the belly scratches and toys a dog could ask for, plus my backyard in Philadelphia! I could see how much my friendship meant to him too, but I sensed something was missing. One day I heard him telling our human roommate Bog about going on a date with a girl named Kristin. It was the first time I would hear my future mom’s name. Brian carefully picked out his clothes and although I was disappointed I didn’t get to go, I happily watched him leave out the front door. Over the next month, I would watch him leave to meet her, wondering when I would get to meet this Kristin. When Kristin arrived at the house in late February, I wanted to play it cool. She was so nice and her perfectly manicured nails made for the best scratching. I was instantly smitten but what made me excited was how happy Brian looked. She came to visit a few more times before the humans seemed very concerned. Suddenly they covered their faces before they left the house and started cleaning the groceries before they put them in the fridge. My backyard became a hang-out for everyone, I still don’t understand why they didn’t want to sit inside with the heat. I am not sure how I got so lucky but suddenly the only people I saw were my roommates, Kristin, her sister Jessica, and her brother-in-law Christopher. They kept saying bubble but I never saw any bubbles. I guess the bubbles were good luck because it wasn’t long before Kristin moved in permanently. She brought with her an exceptionally comfy couch, perfect for mid-day naps. Over so many hours of TV, take-out boxes, and working from home, I watched them fall in love. I never thought anything would be better than being adopted but now I had my house turned into a home! They celebrated holidays, watched football, and invited my aunt and uncle over to feed me too many treats. For what seemed like a year they spent most of their time inside the house talking and learning everything about each other’s past and present. Slowly they started leaving the house more and returning with Phillies jerseys, half-finished iced coffees, and leftovers from dinners out. One day Brain showed me a small box with an odd-looking treat inside of it. He wouldn’t let me eat it but he said that Kristin would love it. He was right, she never takes off the sparkly treat from her finger. Now they keep telling me about a wedding in August when mom and dad will get married. I know we are already a family but they seem very excited. I am so lucky to have them to take care of me and I hope a wedding involves a lot of treats for me.
