Kristin and Aaron's first date was on Valentine’s Day! Aaron had asked Kristin if she could meet him for dinner and after they both compared their schedules for that week, they decided they were both free Thursday night. It wasn’t until after agreeing to meet and trying to decide where to go did Kristin realize that Thursday night was Valentine's Day. They decided to still meet and went to BJs Brewhouse in order to just keep it fun and casual for a first date. It went well, Kristin decided Aaron wasn’t a serial killer which was her biggest fear of meeting people online, and they had their second date two nights later at Albarran’s.
Aaron proposed to Kristin Christmas morning and it was just the two of them. They woke up that morning and Aaron wanted to immediately open presents because he was so excited and nervous. Kristin, had other plans and couldn’t understand why he was being so impatient and just wanted them to take their time and enjoy the morning. They made coffee while Kristin put an egg casserole in the oven. Kristin insisted the egg casserole would be done in 20 minutes so they could open presents after they ate . Finally, they were able to eat and after cleaning up the kitchen Kristin was ready to open presents. The first thing Aaron gave Kristin was a jewelry box that ended up being locked. Aaron explained that he must have left the key in San Marcos when packing to come up to Lubbock for the week. Being a problem solver, Kristin thought that she could get a pen to push the little button to still open it to see what it looked like inside… Aaron told her no and said she would break it so she would just have to wait for him to mail it to her. After exchanging a few presents back and forth Aaron finally gave Kristin the last present which happened to be a Texas Tech Beanie in a Golden Grahams Box along with a smaller wrapped box. The smaller wrapped box contained a long Iphone cable charger and a smaller wrapped box. Kristin noticed the smaller wrapped box was the size of a jewelry box and figured Aaron got her a necklace or earrings or something. A ring was the last thing she expected because Aaron wanted to talk to her dad. (Aaron had breakfast with Randy back in November and asked if he could marry her then). When Kristin opened it there a key to the jewelry box! Kristin was so focused on getting it to open the jewelry box that she didn't notice Aaron sliding off the couch onto one knee. When she got it open and saw the ring she looked up to Aaron asking if she would marry him. It was only a few seconds but Aaron said it felt like years waiting for Kristin to say yes!
