It all started with 2 right swipes in the middle of a dreadfully boring summer in Gainesville. After about a week of texting and phone calls, we agreed it was time for a first date. We decided to go to a trampoline park. Because logically, the perfect way to get to know each other is by making fools of yourselves in a foam pit. Admittedly, I canceled. I was nervous and tired after being unexpectedly called into the football training room to cover morning treatments; but he INSISTED and we settled on dinner instead of jumping around. To make matters worse, I typed my address in wrong and accidentally sent him to a retirement home first. He eventually picked me up at my apartment and we headed over to my favorite food spot - Metro Diner. Little did I know, they closed at 8 pm (it was 8:05). The manager came running out to the car and told us they had a rule that if anyone drove by within 15 minutes they would serve them and if we drove away he would get into trouble for letting us leave. So, in we went. As if I wasn't embarrassed enough for all the hoopla I had caused, I knew the waitress and had just skipped her birthday party - which she so kindly pointed out. I was sure he was never going to want to see me again. Thankfully I was dead wrong. Not only did he change my summer but he changed my life. (If you're curious, we did eventually make it to the trampoline park. Albeit a year late but it was worth the wait!)
We met online and after a few weeks of talking and telling cheesy jokes (ps she is the queen of dad jokes lol), we decided it was time to finally meet. After a hard day of work and much convincing her to not cancel our date night, she sent me to a retirement home to pick her up. I thought at first I was getting catfished; until she gave me the right address. To my surprise, a cute girl met me outside. To make the night even more interesting, she took me to a closed restaurant where they insisted on serving us. The food was delicious (Metro Diner is still a big favorite). Little did she know good food and terrible jokes were the keys to my heart. ~And they lived happily ever after~
