Our Story

Before we ever met, our lives were unfolding on opposite sides of the country and even the world, quietly being shaped in ways that would eventually lead us to each other. Nate grew up between China and Iowa, eventually finding his way to New York City to work in finance. In a completely unexpected turn, he made a spontaneous decision to leave it all behind and move to Cleveland, a city where he knew no one, but somehow felt called to begin again. At the very same time, Kristi was moving between California and Cleveland after working for Disney, also in a season of transition, unknowingly making her way back toward home. And then, in the middle of all that change, one swipe on Bumble changed everything. Our first date in Little Italy was meant to be simple, but six hours later we were still sitting there over tiramisu, laughing like we had known each other far longer than a few hours. What stood out immediately wasn’t just connection, but ease. The shared humor, the same silly energy, the way we could turn anything into something fun without trying at all. It just fit. The next day, Kristi left for several weeks, traveling with family, returning to California, and later driving cross-country back to Cleveland, but even with distance, something had already clicked into place. We stayed connected in the simplest way, as if neither of us questioned where this was going. From the beginning, we built life side by side. Learning new cities, making friends, trying new restaurants, planning date nights, moving into new homes, meeting each other’s families, and slowly creating a life that felt steady in all the best ways. Even in seasons of distance or change, we always found our way back to each other. Looking back now, it’s hard not to see how every chapter, every move, every detour, every beginning and ending, was quietly pointing us here. As if something was weaving it all together. And isn’t it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string?
