Joe first remembers “meeting” Kristi at her home on a spring Saturday morning in 2005. He had spent the night playing video games with Terence—his best friend and her brother. An unhappy Kristi ducked through rooms, several times evading her father’s bear hug. Joe and Kristi were only 15 and 10, so thank goodness their love story does not begin here. Still, this first encounter left an impression on Joe. Kristi does not specifically remember meeting Joe. He was always hanging out with her brothers at their home. Over time, Joe basically became part of the family. Kristi first "noticed" Joe in 2013, after he asked her for a ride to the train station. He was visiting NYC for graduate school. During winter break of Kristi's freshman year in 2014, they started to hang out as friends, and stayed in touch after she returned to school in DC. Officially, Joe and Kristi’s love story begins the following Memorial Day weekend in Delaware. They shared their first kiss in secret at the Stone’s annual party. In June, Joe asked Kristi out on their first date to a Phillies game. They spent the rest of the summer together. It was that summer when Kristi realized she never wanted to know a day without Joe. Neither Kristi nor Joe saw it coming. While both families initially expressed hesitation, Kristi and Joe felt (and still feel) incredibly lucky to have their endless love and support, as their own relationship flourished. When Kristi graduated in May 2018, Joe knew what to do—ask his best friend to spend the rest of her life with him. On Christmas Eve, Joe proposed to Kristi in front of the stone bench on which they shared their first kiss four years earlier. She said yes, of course, in the midst of her “Kim K ugly” crying (pictures will never be shown, so just take their word). As each day passes, Kristi and Joe grow with anticipation and joy, ready to profess their love in front of family and friends, ready to celebrate, ready to make the commitment of a lifetime together.
