All visitors to Mozambique must possess a passport valid for at least six months after their departure from the country. Visas are required by everyone except citizens of South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Swaziland. We strongly advise you obtain your visas in advance from your nearest Mozambican Embassy.
Mozambique is a malaria area, we believe prevention is better than cure. Please come well prepared with mosquito repellent and citronella candles and cover up at night. If you are wanting to take anti-malaria medication, please contact your doctor.
To gain entry into Mozambique passengers will need proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test administered in their country of departure within 72 hours prior to arrival in Mozambique. Children under 11 years old are exempt from this requirement.
We are getting married in a fairly remote area and access to shops or restaurants are roughly a 30min drive away. There is a shopping centre 17km South in Ponta do Ouro, which has all the basics. We advise that you buy all the food and drinks you need for your stay prior to crossing the border.
You cannot take meat over the border unless it is chicken. There are strict foot and mouth regulations and meat will be confiscated if found.
Alcohol is relatively expensive in Mozambique apart from their local beer. Each traveler is allowed to take through1 liter of spirits AND 2.25 liters of wine. No beer is allowed to be imported into Mozambique.
No, however there is a fuel station in Ponta do Ouro, although it's best to fill up your tank in Manguzi (town en-route and just before the Mozambique / Kosi Bay Border). Fuel is cheaper in their local currency (meticais) compared to rands (or dollars). We suggest you fill-up before entering Mozambique's borders, fuel is more expensive the further north you travel!
The area itself is easy to access without a 4x4 however the estates require 4x4 to access. Border transfers can be organised, please see the travel section.
This is one of the higher rainfall months. LOL! Please come prepared for hot and humid as well as wind and rain.
You are more than welcome to bring your kids along. We ask that the ceremony and Reception are child free events. Please let us know if you will be bringing your kids along and we can enquire about a babysitter.
