Kristi tasked me with writing the story of how we met for everyone to read. I am not sure why she thought I was the best choice for the telling of the story but here it goes! Hope I don’t say anything she doesn’t approve of! It was December 2012 and I stumbled onto her profile on social media and thought ‘wow’ to myself as I took in this profile picture of a very beautiful red head, so I sent her a message. I figured it was a long shot of getting a reply as she was still in college full time and living in Massachusetts well over an hour away from me. To my surprise this very pretty woman said ‘hi’ back to me! Well, now what do I do? We spent a couple weeks chatting pretty much daily, learning more about each other every day. I found out she was finishing finals for the semester so I suggested she come up to NH for a date and get away from the stress of school and we made plans. She came to Manchester and met me, and I was even more impressed by how cute, fun, and happy of a person she really was. I certainly thought for a minute that she might just be ‘too nice’ for me as I’ve been known to come off a little rough to some people. I had made plans for us to go have dinner at an Irish restaurant I was working part time at, while there having dinner she tells me how she has a love for dive bars, armed with that information I suggest we visit another place that was always fun to go to but not the place I’d normally think of taking a first date. We went and had a blast, playing music on the juke box and talking and watching the discerning crowd of beer drinkers and dart players. As the night wrapped up, I know Kristi was someone I really wanted to spend more time with. After that night we continued to talk on the phone pretty much every day and next thing you know we are traveling back and forth to each other to be able to spend as much time as possible together. Over the next couple of years we had a blast growing together and falling in love.
As she finished college and found a job in NH, we bought a house together, got our dog Rusty and continue to enjoy our love for each other, in sometimes our own quirky ways, but both knowing we do really love each other the most a person can love anyone. Closing in on 6 years together I decided it was time for me to ask her to marry me! We joked about it from time to time and she always told me I better ask her mother and father before I do it. So, I picked out a ring and I did just that, asking Paula and Shawn both if they would give their blessings to me asking for her hand. Thankfully they both said yes (since I had already bought the ring!). Kristi and I had planned a weekend trip to Maine with our playfully crazy dog which I’m pretty sure she has grown to love more than me, but I have come to accept it. We enjoyed a nice backroad drive up on a sunshine filled morning taking our time enjoying the travels, I suggested we stop at Hacker’s Hill in Casco and take in the view as we had done a few times on the motorcycle. To my surprise the gate was closed at the park that day! So I suggested we take a walk up since we were not in a hurry anyway, at that time I was worried I had given myself away as this wasn’t something I would normally volunteer in such a hurry. We walked up the hill and as we enjoyed the view, I offered her the ring I had picked out for her and asked if she would marry me! Well you are all reading this story know on our wedding page so I’m sure you know what she said! I look forward to spending the rest of our days together. Kristi, I love you very much!
