In Slovakia, it has been a years-old wedding custom to have guests dance with the bride in a traditional dance called, redovy. It is typically danced at midnight in celebration of the bride becoming a married woman. Guests pay to dance with the bride, contributing whatever amount they wish to the newlyweds. If more than one person dances with the bride (i.e. couples, families, groups of friends, etc.), the group makes one contribution and is not expected to pay per person. The dance is performed to a traditional song during which guests that wish to dance with the bride form a large circle around her. Guests then take turns entering the circle to dance with the bride. As guests exit the circle, they are offered shots. Traditionally, the last person to dance with the bride is her groom to symbolize that they belong to each other.
