Our Story

Kristi and Matt

Kristi and Matt first met when studying at John Carroll University in 2010. But it wasn't until their senior year, when they were stuck in almost every accounting course together that they really got to know each other. It wasn't long before their friendly study sessions became weekly dinner dates after their night class. They began to spend all their free time together, binge watching tv shows, playing board games, and blowing their college budgets on take-out food. Finally Matt asked Kristi out on their first official date - He wishes he could say he let her beat him at mini-golf, but Kristi won fair and square! After college they moved into their Cleveland Heights apartment where they began their professional careers and dreamed of the lives the would build together. They've since bought a house and added four paws to their family, all while family and friends asked "What are you waiting for? GET MARRIED!" With the help of Snickers, Matt proposed to Kristi on Christmas Eve 2018. Of course Kristi said "Yes!" After 5 years, they are excited to start their happily ever after!

Our Venue

Mooreland Mansion

We instantly fell in love with Mooreland Mansion during our visit. We are excited to share its beauty and history with you on our special day! Built in 1898, Mooreland Mansion was the summer home of Edward William Moore, a prominent Cleveland capitalist who made his fortune in electric railroads, banking, and telephone distribution. Moore established the Cleveland Painesville and Eastern Interurban Railway from Cleveland to Ashtabula along the shores of Lake Erie. The 20,000 square-foot home allowed Moore's family to escape the heat of Cleveland in summer. The estate was once surrounded by more than 1,300 acres, which included a working farm, orchards, rose gardens, a nine-hole golf course, and the first in-ground swimming pool in Lake County, for which water was pumped up from the Chagrin River. Mooreland became the first home in Lake County to have electricity when Moore ran an electric line to his house from his railroad's Mooreland rail stop. After Moore died in 1928, his wife and four daughters left Cleveland and called Mooreland their permanent residence for the remainder of their years. The mansion and remaining 400 acres of the estate was acquired in 1968 by Lakeland Community College. At one time, Lakeland was considering demolition of the stately old mansion, but beginning in 1989 the mansion was restored to its Victorian elegance in a 10-year, $3 million project. In addition, its elegant rose garden has been restored, and many of the families original furnishings remain.
