On North Table Mountain, Kristen had organized a group hike. Most of the people who arrived were known to the group, but Taylor and a few others were new. Kristen noticed Taylor, and Taylor noticed Kristen.
The next hike they both signed up for gave them a chance to get to know each other - the two of them hiked up Mt Evans before at sunrise, meeting the driver and friend at the top of the 14,000+ ft peak on a Thursday morning. Kristen was so nervous she hiked at lightning speed, and Taylor was impressed. At the same time, they saw they both had green Toyota trucks (FJ Cruiser and Tacoma). They both knew the next event they had both RSVP'd to was a backpacking trip, and each were excited to see the other again.
A group of friends met and carpooled to Aspen to backpack the Conundrum Springs trail. They arrived at night, but everyone was excited to get to the destination and decided to hike through the night, encountering a benevolent moose, the moonlight lighting their way. They were rewarded with sunrise in the hot springs, and the group spent a relaxing and adventurous weekend. Back in Denver after the weekend, Kristen and Taylor were clearly smitten, and Taylor asked Kristen if she had dinner plans and whether she liked Thai food. She had no dinner plans and loved Thai food, and the rest was history.
