We’re Getting Married!

Kristen isn’t the only one changing her name! We are starting our new chapter with another new beginning. With a little help from AncestryDNA, after not knowing his whole life, Derek found and connected with his Dad’s family including his younger brother (who of course looks like him), sister-in-law and first cousin! These are the nicest, kindest and just downright fun people so we are honored to be representing their name and to be part of the Pires party! It’s the best 40th birthday present Derek could have received!

It's the modern day love story, really. Both of us wanted to find our forever love story, so we naturally took to the online dating world. Because that’s what people do these days right? Derek had been online searching and searching unsuccessfully. But not Kristen. She had only been online for a few weeks, but during the first couple of days matched with Derek and he of course sent a message right away. He waited those few weeks without a response because his initial message was unseen, lost in a sea of online noise. But you see the thing about Derek is, he never gives up. So he tried one more time, and this time his message described himself in his own words and those words were everything Kristen was looking for. Kristen, now getting her online bearings, read the message right away and responded. By the end of the week, after talking on the phone every single day (because Derek doesn’t just text he calls), we went on our first date. When Kristen jumped out of the Jeep, Derek’s first word was “Wow!” It was the easiest yet most magical date, almost like we had known each other for years and we both knew this was it. We have laughed countless times about being “love at first sight” skeptics and yet it was for us. We have been inseparable ever since our first date and we often say we were absolutely made for each other. We guess we proved that we really are the perfect match and we cannot wait to officially become husband and wife!

February 24, 2019 - We Matched! March 15, 2019 - The Magic Second Message & The First Day We Spoke! March 22, 2019 - Our First Date! May 31, 2020 - Our Engagement at Barney’s Joy Beach! June 12, 2021 - Our Wedding Day! Fun Fact: Our Wedding Date is 6/12 and Kristen’s Birthday is 12/6! That makes it real easy for Derek to remember the best days!
