Our Story

Our story begins in a small town country church in Lessport, Pennsylvania: Epler's UCC. We were only kids back then, growing up in dutch country where we had a love for grandma's shoefly pie, farmers market trips on Wednesdays, and having your grandparents ask "Can you catch flies?" in PA Dutch. Growing up, both of our families belonged to the same church, so Sundays consisted of us saying "Hi!" and giggling at one another. Our dads belonged to the same hunting camp in Potter County, as well. Throughout the years, we got to know each other by numerous cabin trips and 4-wheeling in the mountains. The two of us always had so much fun together! I'll never forget the day I was walking up the camp steps to get Zach's rear in gear to go on a ride and he told me: I'm going to marry you one day. I thought he was joking--my face turned bright red and I grinned ear to ear. Looking back, as young as we were, I never thought we would end up together down the road. They say "love finds a way". Fast-forward 15 years later: we were both single and went on a few dates. At first, Zach was fearful of our friendship changing if it didn't work out, but we both were willing to give it a shot. Over the last four years, we've enjoyed making memories on numerous cabin trips, hiking, camping and boating at the bay with family. Just last year, Zach bought an 1800's farmhouse out in the country for us to start our next adventure. We were so excited! Then one evening at our home, Zach said we were going to dinner. I put on a sundress and he came to get me. He started walking me out to the field and had a table all set up with lights, lanterns, deer antlers, wine, and my favorite sunflowers. He started pointing in the woods and said, "Hun, look at the deer! See that big buck!?" As I was looking to see this "buck" in the field, I turned around to find him on one knee and asking me to marry him. He promised he would ask me, and he did.
