Travel Note
Due to safety concerns and about 45 minutes to an hour of travel by car between New Orleans and the venue, we do not recommend booking lodging in New Orleans. However, if you have taken into consideration your safety and travel arrangements for the day of the wedding, we do have some suggestions: - If you would like to mostly hang out in the historic French Quarter and see sites such as Bourbon Street, The Aquarium and Insectarium of the Americas, and unrivaled original cuisine, the "French Quarter", "Marigny", and "Downtown New Orleans" are the names of the neighborhoods central to these things. - If you would like to be central to the Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo, and famed Magazine Street shopping, "Uptown" and "Garden District" will set you up nearby.
Travel Note
The venue is located in Abita Springs, Louisiana, which hosts the InstaGator Ranch (a swamp farm, if you will), the Tammany Trace hiking and biking path, a train museum, and an old-South charm. Just South of Abita Springs are Covington and Mandeville, home to the Northlake Nature Reserve and Fontainebleau Park, as well as a strip of delightful restaurants along the lake front. Across Lake Pontchartrain is New Orleans, which needs no introduction. Some of our favorite places in New Orleans are Midway on Freret Street (local pizza), Audubon Park, the Botanical Gardens and Storyland at City Park, and the Aquarium/Insectarium of the Americas.
