It's Never Too Late To Celebrate! Our reception is scheduled for August 28, 2021 in Huntingburg, Indiana at Venue 1408. Festivities will start at 5:00pm EST. We look forward to finally getting to celebrate our marriage with the people we love! Please, no gifts...we received so much generosity last year when we got married, and we just want to celebrate with you in person! Formal invitations went out the week of June 14th, and RSVPs are due by August 2nd.
WE GOT MARRIED! What a blessing to still be able to have our wedding ceremony at Christ the King. It was truly everything we dreamt it would be and was definitely the focus of the day. After the ceremony, we shared our first dance in the gym and got the chance to say a socially distanced hello to our loved ones who were able to make it. Our parents surprised us with an antique Rolls Royce to drive us around Broad Ripple for photos before taking us to dinner. We concluded the day surrounded by our immediate families and wedding party. Despite the changes in plans and difficult decisions that had to be made due to COVID- 19, we truly felt like we were so blessed to be able to get married on July 18, 2020 and that the challenges really put into perspective what was most important in starting our marriage together.
HIS: A handful of weeks prior to meeting up, Kristen & I played against one other in a volleyball league. She caught my eye during the game, & afterwards I asked one of her teammates who she was. He didn't know her well, but said her name was Kristen Krempp, she was from Jasper, & worked in marketing. A few weeks later it hit me, "I think I know of a Krempp from Jasper." I then texted Tyler who is married to Maria Krempp from Jasper, asking him if Maria was related to Kristen. He told me the girls were actually first cousins. I then asked Tyler if he could find out if Kristen was single and if so, would she be interested in going out with me. 4 hours later he texted back and said yes & yes! About 10 days later we met up on our first date & Kristen made quite the first impression by running over the curb at Ralston's as I sat outside waiting for her to arrive! While date one was just over an hour, we had a fantastic convo & I was so impressed by her. I couldn't wait for date #2! HERS: I received a text from my cousin Maria's husband, Tyler, on my way home from a work conference asking if I'd be interested in going out with his friend, Ryan. I hesitantly agreed, trusting that Maria & Tyler wouldn't recommend a total loser or creeper. haha! Since Ryan isn't on social media (other than Twitter which doesn't count), I didn't even know what he looked like - I showed up blindly for our date! Luckily, he had texted me what he was wearing as I ran into the curb right in front of him. Despite my rough entrance, I quickly knew this date was going to go well upon meeting him. We had great convos that I didn't want to end, talking about the importance of our faith & family. I just remember being so impressed by him and couldn't believe I'd met a man whose priorities aligned so closely with mine. We left and I immediately called Kiersten & just geeked out over how excited I was about the potential I saw in him! We continued to date from then on & the rest is history!
Kristen had that Friday off after completing her Home-A-Rama event, so the two of them made plans to go hiking in the Hoosier National Forest for the day, then stay in the area and go to an IU tailgate with Kristen's friends the following day. As the week progressed, the weather continued to look worse...so much so, that Ryan suggested changing locations that morning for the hike. As if Kristen wasn't already clueless about what was going on, any inkling of a proposal that day flew out the window when planner-Ryan considered changing the plan! After deciding to stick with the plan and tough out the threats of rain, they drove down and ended up on a gravel road inside the park for the last 20 minutes of the drive. Kristen kept commenting on how gorgeous the drive was and what a great day this was going to be....if she only knew! At the end of the gravel road, they parked at the base of a huge fire tower and agreed they'd climb the stairs of it after the hike. They hiked in misting rain for an hour and half then started to make their way up the stairs. By the time they got to the lookout point at the top, they were well above the treeline and could see for miles in every direction! Kristen was in awe of the view and continued to comment about how incredible it was....meanwhile, Ryan was admiring the floor of the platform for any cracks that a ring could potentially fall through! Kristen was still clueless. Finally after a couple minutes savoring the moment, Kristen said, "This is just the perfect day." Ryan stepped back, got down on his knee and said, "The only thing that would make it more perfect is if you agreed to spend the rest of your life with me." Through complete shock, Kristen said, "Are you serious?!" and then, "YES!!" And their next greatest adventure began.
