We met online through a dating app in the holiday season of 2019 while we were visiting our families in Jacksonville. Kristen was living in Orlando and Matt was living in a cabin in Branford at the time. After chatting on the app, we arranged to meet in person about halfway in Ocala at The Lodge to watch a Jaguars game for our first date just before New Years. We hit it off both having interests in nature, football, video games, and live music. We were interested enough in each other that we would alternate take the long 2hr plus drives between Orlando and Branford through the pandemic. In 2021, Kristen made the move to Gainesville to be closer to Matt (and get away from busy Orlando). In 2022, we moved in together in High Springs, just outside of Gainesville. We'd take trips to natural areas in Florida and National Parks (always birding along the way) and to concerts to see some of our favorite bands. While on a trip exploring Colorado in 2024, Matt proposed near Copeland Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park. Kristen said "Yes!". Shortly after in 2025, Kristen and Matt moved to Gainesville to a home of their own!
