Washington's Headquarters
As part of the Morristown National Historical Park, Washington's Headquarters offers a museum with galleries including military artifacts, political pamphlets, and the original Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington. You can also tour the Ford Mansion; built in 1774 for a prominent Morristown businessman, it became Washington's military headquarters from December 1779 to June 1780.
Jockey Hollow Visitor Center
Part of the Morristown National Historical Park, this recreated campsite was home to the Pennsylvania troops in the winter of 1779-80. In addition to its history, it is provides excellent walking trails.
Schuyler-Hamilton House
For all the fans of the hit musical "Hamilton," Alexander Hamilton met and proposed to his future wife, Betsy Schuyler, in this house.
The Frelinghuysen Arboretum
This 127-acre preserve, which surrounds a historic Colonial-Revival mansion and its formal grounds, offers self-guided tours of beautiful gardens and nature trails.
Morristown Green
At the center of Morristown's downtown is a 2.5-acre park dating back to the early 18th century. Known as "The Green," this hub is surrounded by several restaurants and bars, including Roots Steakhouse, 1776, Hops Craft Bar, The Committed Pig, Stirling Tavern, and The Godfather of Morristown.
