It's happening!

Kristen loves telling this story, because the first time her and Josue met it was at their church at the young adults group. Kristen was a part of the leadership team and Josue came for the first time with his sister who had been attending the young adults group. During a time of greeting, Kristen walked up to the table Josue was sitting at and cheerfully said, "Hi, I'm Kristen, what's your name?" And Josue responded with a short, "Josh." So their first meeting was not love at first sight, but eventually developed into a great friendship and eventually into more than friends.

Josue likes to remind everyone of THIS story. As friendship grew between the two of them it was very clear to him how he felt about her. All the hangouts, grocery runs, and talks in the car were too much for him to keep to himself. He decided to own up to how he felt and confirm Kristen's suspicions. At the time, Kristen didn't feel the same, so Josue decided that it was time to not be friends because it was too hard for him. They took a break from talking and hanging out, and that was when Kristen knew how she felt about him but hadn't realized. They eventually started talking again and sort of picked up where they left off. Kristen decided she couldn't keep it to herself any longer and decided to tell Josue how she felt, and August they started dating.

Kristen and Josue knew they wanted to get married, but Kristen wanted to date for at least a year before they got engaged. Kristen knew the engagement would be coming at some point, but didn't know when. They planned an overnight trip to Big Bear (don't worry, Kristen's parents were there with them) because it was Kristen's mom's birthday and she loves it there. Josue told Kristen beforehand that he wanted to take her on a walk/hike near Big Bear and that he wanted to take pictures. Kristen had a small idea that they could get engaged that weekend, but tried not to entertain the thoughts in case it didn't happen. So on Monday, October 21, Josue and Kristen hung out with Kristen's parents for a bit, but her parents eventually left and Josue took Kristen on his planned hike. They went to a nearby lake and as they walked towards a bridge that went out on the lake, there was a bouquet of flowers on the bridge. Josue made it seem like the flowers weren't for Kristen, but they approached the bouquet and he picked it up and gave it to Kristen. At that point, their friends Becca and Erick, jumped out of a bush and were taking pictures. At this point, Kristen knew what was happening. Josue got down on one knee and asked Kristen to marry him and SHE SAID YES!
